This at a time when the Deepwater Horizon well explosion disaster had finally been capped but not before it had released an estimated 184,000,000 gallons(lower estimates put it at 94,000,000) that's more than 1,000,000 gallons per day even at lower estimate levels. The oil leaked into the Gulf Region for 86 days in total. The gulf stream is essential for keeping the UK and northern Europe mild it is estimated to deliver 1,000,000 power stations worth of energy to northern Europe elevating temperatures in some regions by as much as 10 degrees C. in the UK alone which is as northerly as Moscow it is said to lift temperatures by 6C. Without this warming influence the UK would be in big trouble as its infrastructure is not well suited to cold weather as the recent big freeze has shown with much of the UK grinding to a Holt with foot after foot of snow falling. Government estimates say that this weather is costing the UK economy 1.2billion a day. Worse could be yet to come the UK fresh water pipes are not made to withstand such cold weather unlike in Russia where water pipes are put several feet under ground to prevent freezing. UK pipes are placed much nearer to the surface so are particularly at risk from cracking in freezing conditions.

The Researchers on a recent scientific expedition to monitor the Gulf Stream have observed that it has slowed down by 30% since a similar expedition 12 years ago. Harry Bryden of the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton leader of the study said that if the Gulf Stream stays as it is Temperatures in the UK will drop on average by 1C and if the Gulf Stream completely stops then temperatures will drop by 4-6C according to computer models some would say this is a conservative estimate and many believe that the shutting down of the Gulf Stream has been responsible for Ice Ages in the past.
So back to the original Question and title of this post is the oil spill responsible for the weakening of the Gulf Stream and the Europe wide freeze. Well let's look at some further evidence, below is a picture of the Gulf Loop which feeds into the Gulf stream and is a major source of its energy.

Now Here are some Satellite Pictures showing the Oil spill in relation to the Gulf Loop

If we also take the conservative estimate of 1,070,000 gallons of oil a day were leaking into the Gulf then this outline of the oil slick applies to at the most 17,120,000 gallons of oil by the 86th day of the Disaster, July 14th 94,000,000 gallons of oil were spilled. Even at this early stage of the spill it can be clearly seen than the oil spill is interacting with the northern edge of the Loop.

By the 28th of July 14 days after the spill had been capped and the full amount of oil had been leaked the Gulf Loop had broken up and stopped its normal process It would be fair to assume that other than natural phenomenon the increased viscosity in the region affected by an upper most prediction of 184,000,000 gallons of oil and 1,000,000 gallons of cleaning agent had a substantial effect on on the natural cycle of the Gulf Loop.

Here is a picture of the Gulf Loop as it progressively breaks up.

So has this break up affected weather in Northern Europe well it cannot be blamed for all of the unprecedented weather we are experiencing but it is probably a contributing factor the gulf stream is weaker than normal and was so before. The Oil Disaster has definitely not helped matters. Luckily the latest pictures of the Gulf loop show it acting more normally although there is still less general activity in the area of the Oil Disaster itself than this time last year.
With us knowing so little about the Gulf stream and the complex influences that drive it we have to be extremely careful. The Oil spill was a major Catastrophe and its long standing effects on the Gulf Stream we may yet have to wait to see. Sensitive Areas like this that are essential for global climate have to be treated with the utmost respect. I would suggest that the offshore drilling in this area be permanently prevented not just until 2017 as the Obama administration has implemented. The possible Fallout from such disasters is simply too dangerous to risk. We will need a hell of a lot more oil than is under the Gulf to keep us warm if we break the Gulf Stream.Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-44104961034863524932010-12-03T21:18:00.002-08:002010-12-19T07:32:00.935-08:00Solar Cooling: What Is It Anyway?

The words 'solar cooling' sure sounds like a contradiction, but it's true that the same solar energy that provides heat in winter can also provide cooling in the summer months.

There have been quite a number of passive cooling systems developed and tested in recent times. They function quite simply. There is a coolant that absorbs heat and then dispels it outside. If you're wondering just what are these coolants, they can even be simple everyday things, like water troughs or water tanks - they are very much capable of sucking in the heat and letting it out as the sun's rays evaporate the heat automatically.

These may be simple coolants or ways to use passive cooling, but you can get any one of several passive solar cooling systems with more intricate processes. These systems make use of a shaded solar collector, to start with. And the storage medium in it gathers all the heat during daytime to release it later after sundown. When the night comes, you can remove the cover or shade of the solar collector, allowing it to get in contact with the night air, and as a result releasing any heat collected.

You can choose from many different possible shades for the solar collector, from extended shades to sun blinds. You need to be able to cover your solar collector just as well as you can expose it, because this is, after all, a temporary arrangement that will go the other way around in the winter time.

If you are using a conventional air conditioner, you can actually save energy by using solar panels to power it. Solar panels are a great idea especially in the summer, because the sun shines the brightest during these hot months, making it the perfect opportunity to create electricity with photovoltaic, or PV cells. This way it is possible to use your air conditioner in the summer free of charge - how about that to save a chunk off your electric bill!

One final way you can use solar cooling is without the use of any form of technology. The ancient Romans needed a way to cool the walls of their homes, so they used running water to do the trick. As you can guess, the water evaporates under the sun, thereby dissipating heat and soothing the inner temperatures. This same arrangement can be put up at your house on the walls and even on rooftops.

Cooling and heating are two reasons why Americans experience higher than usual utility bills in the summer and winter months respectively. Solar cooling, as we have illustrated, has many ways in which it could help you regulate your house's temperature, save costs, and do so in an environmentally friendly way.

About the author: Erica Hall is a blogger and about life in Saint Louis. It seems that after last year's significant disruption, which many believe wasn't accurately forecast, many of the major weather forecasters including the UK Met Office have decided to "no longer issue long-range forecasts for the general public".

One thing is certain, after last year's winter snows that brought large swaths of the country to a complete standstill, many across the UK are a little nervous of what this year's winter has in store.

With stories of local authorities stockpiling salt and grit reserves, it does raise the question of are the powers-that-be just being careful to avoid the shortages that were experienced last year or are weather models for the coming months predicting a return to freezing temperatures and snowbound towns and villages?

The 2009 / 2010 winter period was the coldest for a decade. One of the most decisive anomalies was the North Atlantic Oscillation, which has been negative for a record breaking 13 months. The previous record of 9 consecutive months was back in 1968 into 1969 which was also a very cold and snowy winter.

Other factors that can affect the weather on a global level are volcanoes, of which there seems to have been a fair few recently. It was thought that only massive eruptions would have an affect on a worldwide scale but many believe that lots of smaller eruptions could also produce a cooling affect. Volcanic eruptions can throw up thousands of tonnes of dust particles that can remain suspended in the air for months, blocking out some of the Sun's energy and depositing cooling sulphur dioxide at higher altitudes.

As stories of unusual bird migrations and bee behaviour are reported, are we truly heading for another harsh winter on the scale of last year or worse? As always, the great British weather has a unique unpredictability and a habit of doing its own thing, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

********************************************************************************

Flying from Manchester Airport to escape the onset of winter? The motor industry, including contract hire companies, are just as keen on reaching a sustainable long term solution in order to remain in business. Research continues into hybrid vehicles and the alternatives of all electric cars or hydrogen-fuelled cars. Major manufacturers are now investing substantial sums in ongoing development and it may only be a few years before Audi contract hire choices include a hydrogen fuel cell powered hatchback. BMW too has ripped the petrol-heart from the Mini and replaced it with batteries and an electric motor so BMW contract hire may also include similar zero emission options in the near future. The eco-friendly Nissan Leaf is already garnering much praise and will be built at Nissan's plant in Sunderland by 2013.

However, a highly calorific liquid fuel remains more convenient to store and distribute and Butanol may be the answer. Not only does Butanol gives 30% more power output than Ethanol, but scientists in Scotland have also produced it in what could be commercial quantities by adapting a 100 year old technique. What's more, they've used existing waste products from the Scotch whisky industry for the process, so it does not impinge on virgin land.Using waste products is more environmentally sustainable than growing crops to generate biofuel and it's reckoned that this process could contribute as much as 10% of total fuel sales in the UK by 2020.

Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-80263689767503821122010-12-03T06:22:00.002-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.411-08:00Using The Cloud To Be An Environmentally Friendly Business

The concept of cloud computing is nothing all that new. It is becoming more and more popular and many businesses start to switch over. As it becomes more popular more businesses are starting to invest in virtualization technology and the benefits are becoming clearer. One of the most prominent is the minimization of the impact of mass technological dependency on our environment.

With cloud computing companies offering virtualized interfaces to customers, the number of physical servers needed to carry out functions is becoming dramatically reduced. IT professionals have long used physical servers at well below their data processing capacities in order to create ample storage and backup opportunities. With the invention of the data center and cloud based backups, the number of server units is being reduced dramatically. You no longer need to spend so much of your resources creating these physical servers saving time and energy. It also means that organizations that choose to opt for a virtualized server operation can reduce the amount of office space needed to carry out their everyday functions.

For larger organizations this can have a massive impact especially on their carbon footprint as they can dramatically reduce the floor space needed for their data centre. There are many other environmental benefits of running a virtualized environment. Since one server will be able to offer end users services on a range of operating systems by its use of a buffering software layer in the cloud. Theoretically, this will add a completely new level of flexibility to working practices, making remote working and online collaborations easier. This means that cloud has the potential to reduce the amount of time your business needs to have people on the road travelling to face to face meetings.

All these mean that for once a new technology can have the potential to help any business have a responsible attitude towards it's carbon footprint and therefore it's reputation and image by being at the start of this emerging and increasingly popular technology.

Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-43691272417562691092010-11-26T05:03:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.429-08:00Sunspots Driving Climate.

I live on the east coast of the UK not that far away from Skegness and was greeted by 3inches of snow covering this morning when I opened my front door. After turning on the TV and listening to the early morning news reports I was intrigued to learn that this was the earliest major snow fall for seventeen years in the UK. Watching on, the report went on to discuss whether the UK would be running low on salt to grit the roads any-time soon and a local council official said that because of lessons learned from last year when we had one of the coldest winters since the fifties that extra supplies were available this year and provisions were in a healthy state but if we had a particularly severe winter due to "global warming" then provisions may run out by the end of the winter.
The global warming plug didn't surprise, it seems that a lot of scientist and politicians want it both ways. If the climate gets warmer it's down to global warming and if it gets colder it's also down to global warming. It wasn't so long ago that these so called experts were assuring us that winters would become milder and this would result in all sorts of problems, increased rainfall and floods just to mention a few.
So what's happening with the weather? I don't seem to see any correlation with the expert's computer model predictions. If you take a simple look out of your front door I don't see any real evidence for global warming either, in fact if anything our climate seems to be getting colder. This has always happened though hasn't it, climate has always been a state of fluctuation if there isn't global warming then there is global cooling, climate never stays the same. So what is really driving climate change. Well in my humble opinion it's obvious. When you are sat in your living room with inches of snow outside you turn the fire on to get warm. You may turn on one bar, two bars or even three depending on how warm you want it.

But what you don't do to make it warmer is spark up a cigarette and fill the room with as much smoke as possible to make your living room warmer. Why? well because it would be ineffectual It's that fire in the corner that provides the real warmth. Just as I suggest that it's our Sun that drives our global temperature fluctuations. If you look to the Sun now for clues you'll see that at the moment there are only 22 active sunspots at work. The Suns activity is currently very low and many suggest that our climate reflects Solar activity. In fact you can see a compelling graph on this site that shows a distinct correlation between solar activity and our global temperature. If you'd like to draw a comparison that huge fire ball that provides us with heat is currently only on one bar and I would put it to you, that is the real reason for the reduced temperatures we are seeing at the moment. Here is an interesting graph that shows solar activity over the last couple of hundred years and as you can see Solar activity is very low at the moment and is a compelling argument for current global temperatures.

Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-52299306994022882432010-11-23T00:56:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.448-08:00Global Warming Caused By The Sun Assert Eminent Scientists.<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=101globwarmfa-21&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=1840468661&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="align:left;padding-top:5px;width:131px;height:245px;padding-right:10px;"align="left" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">Anthropogenic global warming could be occurring at a slower rate than has been previously thought, reported research.Scientists say that solar radiation causes a larger role in the Earth's climate than global warming experts previously believed.

In a book published they claim that fluctuations in the definite quantity of cosmic rays striking the atmosphere directly change the amount of cloud covering the earth. High amounts of clouds cover the planet and reflects radiated heat energy from the Sun back out into space, resulting in the planet cooling down.

Eminent weather scientist Henrik Svensmark of the Danish National Space Centre leader of the research, supports the theory that the planet is experiencing a normal period of low cloud cover caused by reduced amounts of solar radiation entering the atmosphere.

He conveys it is the responsible factor for most of the global warming we are experiencing and goes on to assert, carbon dioxide emissions owed to human activity are having a smaller impact on global warming than scientists think.

The theory is a direct contradiction to the claims of the United Nations International Panel on Climate Change. Their fourth report, which conceives that human caused carbon dioxide emissions will be responsible for global warming temperature elevations of up to 4.5 C by the finish of the current century.

Svensmark deduced in his research that the calculations utilized in making this assumption largely overlooked the effect of solar radiation on cloud cover and global warming and that temperature rises caused by human activity may be in effect smaller if at all

He stated: "It was long thought that clouds were caused by climate change, but now we see that climate change is driven by clouds.

"This has not been taken into account in the models used to work out the effect carbon dioxide has had.

"We may see CO2 is responsible for much less warming than we thought and if this is the case the predictions of warming due to human activity will need to be adjusted."

Svensmark published the premier evidence from 5 years of research on the effects that Solar Radiation has on cloud production in a Proceedings of the Royal Society Journal A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences. His book "The Chilling Stars: A New Theory of Climate Change" gives a full account of his work and research.

Mr Svensmark's book accounts for results that show that solar radiation give rise to electrically charged particles and talking about when they impact the atmosphere. He states: "These particles attract water molecules from the air and cause them to clump together until they condense into clouds."

Mr Svensmark concluded from his pioneering research that the definite quantity of Solar Rays striking the Atmosphere changes with the level of magnetic activity around the Sun. During high activity, less Solar Radiation impacts the Atmosphere and so there is less cloud cover formed and this results in global warming. reduced activity is responsible for more cloud cover and as a result global cooling effects the Earth. This is what we have seen over the last Ten years with the reduction in Sunspot activity.

He states: "Evidence from ice cores show this happening long into the past. We have the highest solar activity we have had in at least 1,000 years.

"Humans are having an effect on climate change, but by not including the cosmic ray effect in models it means the results are inaccurate. The size of man's impact may be much smaller and so the man-made change is happening slower than predicted."

On an growing scale scientists accept that these effect are real.

Prof Bob Bingham, a clouds expert, Central Laboratory of the Research Councils in Rutherford said: "It is a relatively new idea, but there is evidence there for this effect on clouds."Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-6836247079206996922010-11-22T08:22:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.467-08:00Global Carbon Project Report 2010 Short Critique
The Latest Carbon budget was released yesterday and it makes for interesting reading. The primary peer-reviewed source for this year’s budget is:
Friedlingstein et al. (2010) Update on CO2 emissions.Nature Geoscience, doi: 10.1038/ngeo_1022. Published online: 21 November 2010.

It states that the growth rate of world wide CO2 is down to 1.6ppm in 2009. the average from 2000-2008 was 1.9ppm it then adds that the accumulation of co2 in the atmosphere is the most accurate Statistic In the Carbon budgets arsenal with an accuracy of about 96% That's a pretty big claim in this author opinion. With a fall of just .3ppm it begs the question is this statistically significant considering the highly disputable accuracy of such measurements.

It also goes on to say that CO2 emissions from fossil fuels decreased by 1.3% in 2009 and that about 92% of the increase in emissions from 2007-2009 was a result of increased coal use in China and India. Quite a specific figure 92% considering that a few sentences later it states that the accuracy of Global CO2 measurements is about 6% plus/minus and for individual nations can be several fold larger. So let's take that figure 6% and make it several fold bigger and up it to 42%. We could add it to the supposed 92% that they claim China and India are responsible for but that would mean that they were responsible for 134% of CO2 emissions 2007-2009 but of course that's not possible if we take it off then China and India would be responsible for only 50% a lot less headline grabbing a figure I'm sure you'll agree. Considering that the poorest nations in the world are only responsible for 1% of total CO2 emissions since 1751 I believe that 50% is easily a palatable figure when taking into account the necessary development that is saving countless lives in these disadvantaged countries.

The report also points out that a large proportion of CO2 from these developing countries is produced on making goods that end up in the developed world and I commend it for pointing that out all though I question the motives.

Finally the report states that Natural land and Ocean processes remove 57% of all CO2 emissions caused by human activity and according to the reports own admitted error margins this could in theory offset the entire emission produced by China and India. When you take into account that 97% of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere comes from the Oceans and Plants It makes you wonder that in the time of this deep recession maybe the probable millions spent on this report, that by its own claims is so statistically unreliable would have been better spent elsewhere, something I believe we all need to think about and address.

Report Contributors,

Contributors

Karen Assmann

University of Bergen, Norway

Thomas A. From August of 2007 through February of 2008, the Earth’s mean reading dropped to near the 200-year average temperature of 57 degrees.

We, Cliff Harris and Randy Mann, believe that the warming and even the cooling of global temperatures are the result of long-term climatic cycles, solar activity, sea-surface temperature patterns and more. However, Mankind’s activities of the burning of fossil fuels, massive deforestations, the replacing of grassy surfaces with asphalt and concrete, the ‘Urban Heat Island Effect,’ are making conditions ‘worse’ and this will ultimately enhance the Earth’s warming process down the meteorological roadway in the next several decades.

From the late 1940s through the early 1970s, a climate research organization called the Weather Science Foundation of Crystal Lake, Illinois, determined that the planet’s warm, cold, wet and dry periods were the result of alternating short-term and long-term climatic cycles. These researchers and scientists also concluded that the Earth’s ever-changing climate likewise has influenced global and regional economies, human and animal migrations, science, religion and the arts as well as shifting forms of government and strength of leadership.

Much of this data was based upon thousands of hours of research done by Dr. Raymond H. Wheeler and his associates during the 1930s and 1940s at Kansas State University. Dr. Wheeler was well-known for his discovery of various climate cycles, including his highly-regarded ‘510-Year Drought Clock’ that he detailed at the end of the ‘Dust Bowl’ era in the late 1930s.

During the early 1970s, our planet was in the midst of a colder and drier weather cycle. Inflationary recessions and oil shortages led to rationing and long gas lines at service stations worldwide. The situation at that time was far worse than it is now, at least for the time being.

The Weather Science Foundation also predicted, based on these various climate cycles, that our planet would turn much warmer and wetter by the early 2000s, resulting in general global prosperity. They also said that we would be seeing at this time widespread weather ‘extremes.’ There’s little doubt that most of their early predictions came true.

Our recent decline in the Earth’s temperature may be a combination of both long-term and short-term climate cycles, decreased solar activity and the development of a strong long-lasting La Nina, the current cooler than normal sea-surface temperature event in the south-central Pacific Ocean. Sunspot activity in the past 18 months has decreased the lowest levels since ‘The Little Ice Age’ ended in the mid-to late 1800s. This "cool spell," though, may only be a brief interruption to the Earth’s overall warming trend. Only time will tell.

Based on these predictions, it appears that much warmer readings may be expected for Planet Earth, especially by the 2030s, that will eventually top 1998's global highest reading of 58.3 degrees. It’s quite possible we could see an average temperature in the low 60s. Until then, this ‘cooling period’ may last from just a few months to as long as several years, especially if sunspot activity remains very low.

We at Harris-Mann Climatology, www.LongRangeWeather.com, believe that our prolonged cycle of wide weather ‘extremes,’ the worst in at least 1,000 years, will continue and perhaps become even more severe, especially by the mid 2010s. We should see more powerful storms, including major hurricanes and increasing deadly tornadoes. There will likewise be widespread flooding, crop-destroying droughts and freezes and violent weather of all types including ice storms, large-sized hail and torrential downpours.

We are already seeing on virtually every continent an almost Biblical weather scenario of increasing droughts and floods. In both the southwestern and southeastern corners of the U.S, there are severe water shortage problems associated with chronic long-term dryness. In some cases, the water deficits are the worst in at least 400 years.

Dr. Wheeler also discovered that approximately every 102 years, a much warmer and drier climatic cycle affects our planet. The last such ‘warm and dry’ peak occurred in 1936, at the end of the infamous ‘Dust Bowl’ period. During that time, extreme heat and dryness, combined with a multitude of problems during the ‘Great Depression,’ made living conditions practically intolerable.

The next ‘warm and dry’ climatic phase is scheduled to arrive in the early 2030s, probably peaking around 2038. It is expected to produce even hotter and drier weather patterns than we saw during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

But, we should remember, that the Earth’s coldest periods have usually followed excessive warmth. Such was the case when our planet moved from the Medieval Warm Period between 900 and 1300 A.D. to the sudden ‘Little Ice Age,’ which peaked in the 17th Century.

By the end of this 21st Century, a big cool down may occur that could ultimately lead to expanding glaciers worldwide, even in the mid-latitudes. We could possibly see even a new Great Ice Age. Based on long-term climatic data, these major ice ages have recurred about every 11,500 years. Well, you guessed it. Less than 15 minutes later before dawn breaks across much of the northern hemisphere brilliant pulsating auroras of red purple and green illuminate the sky’s world wide awaking many people from their nights sleep and astounding them with its beauty. Seconds later a a fireball carrying a 15 billion-tonnes of magnetically supercharged plasma smashes into the earth at over 1 million miles an hour.

Light-bulbs burn brilliantly world wide before exploding, plug sockets burst into flames and TV's explode. Several tonne electricity transformers are shot hundreds of feet into the air unable to cope with the massive incursion of electric currents along power lines as the gigantic plasma storm plays havoc with the earth’s magnetic field. Raging fires break out in cities and homes world wide. Sky Scrapers and tower blocks burn uncontrollably. Their sprinkler systems made useless as electricity supplies fail that are critical for pumping water. Instantly many things that we take for granted are paralysed. Sewage treatment plants and refrigeration would be knocked out instantly meaning toilets would no longer flush and perishable food would begin to rot. Water supplies in normal homes would run out in less than a day meaning no more drinking water. Supermarket shelves would empty quickly leading to mass starvation. Without electricity fuel could not be pumped from petrol station reservoirs. Transport systems that rely on power supply would be brought to their knees. Financial institutions would collapse with no computers running them. The internet would seize to exist.

Essential services such as hospitals would last two or three days at the most. Once the fuel for the generators had been used they would come grinding to a halt losing their functional use. Staff panic stricken would flee home to their families leaving the sick to fend for themselves. Prisons would no doubt riot those that could not escape would in all probability be left to starve or die from thirst. Riots and Looting would quickly ensue as people fight over food resources. In a matter of weeks Famine ad Starvation would materialise. The world would be thrown back into the dark ages within a matter of months with millions dead or dying, as disease and illness took hold. Without a ready supply and access to modern medicine manageable afflictions such as diabetes could wipe out millions by the day.

Is this just scare mongering? Well the honest answer is yes. Could this happen? Well the honest answer is yet again yes. The fact remains that our reliance on technology puts us at risk to just such an event. If Solar cycle 24 comes with the same intensity as the Carrington Event of 1859 then we could see many of the above scenarios happening. We know very little about the sun and although unprecedented in recorded history there may come a time when such solar activity could last for weeks on end making it almost impossible to guard against( The Carrington event has been recorded at lasting 8 days). We should have some warning against a singular event enabling us to turn off and protect certain infrastructure. It takes about three days for a solar storm to reach the earth from conception. Although worryingly this is not the warning period we will get.

We currently rely on ACE, NASA's Advanced Composition Explorer. It is constantly in orbit between earth and the Sun but where it is placed would only give us between 15-45 minutes warning of any upcoming event(It takes at least 15minutes for the power companies to prepare any protection against any such event). The problem is that this probe is eleven years old, longer than its predicted operational lifespan and its instrumentation is becoming less reliable by the day. There are currently no plans for a replacement. To compound this worry The Carrington Event was observed to have taken less than fifteen minutes to reach earth from where ACE is currently in Orbit. Our other space based instrumentation such as the probe SOHO while en-valuable are said to offer very little by way of early warning capability. Mike Hapgood, who chairs the European Space Agency's space weather team said talking about the loss of ACE "We will largely lose the early warning capability."

John Kappenman, a power industry analyst with the Metatech Corporation of Goleta, California, and an advisor to the NASA committee that produced there recent report on just such an event reckons. "It could conceivably be the worst natural disaster possible,"

If these distinguished experts are worried and our governments do not heed these warnings it is not inconceivable that the dark ages could be coming to a neighbourhood near you. You have been warned.Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-79976991974749191652010-11-17T15:37:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.667-08:00To Predict Global Climate Change Look to the SunA trip to the beach during the summer requires the use of proper suntan lotion to prevent a very bad sunburn. In fact, a hot summer day makes us often retreat from the sun into the cover of nearby shade. However, a cold winter day will often make us long for the warmth of the sun's direct rays.
When we plan each day, it is around the sun. The sun determines our scheduled activities in the daylight and during the dark of each night. The changing seasons are a function of the number of hours of sunlight. So, if the sun is such a factor in our lives each day, why do we not even consider the sun as a catalyst for future global climate change?
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been looking in the wrong place for the cause of global climate change. It's global climate change projections do not include the influence of the sun. As a result, it's computer-generated model, which predicts a one-degree Fahrenheit increase in global temperature in each decade of this century due to human-emitted carbon dioxide gas, is in need of drastic repair.
The truth is that it is becoming clearer with each passing day that global climate change is a function of the sun and not a function of an increase in man-made CO2 emissions. The fact is that global temperatures have not increased in the last ten years, since 1998, even with a significant global increase in CO2. Also, consider that the first half of this year (2008) was actually the coolest of the last five years, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
So, the current trend of global temperature is becoming colder, not warmer, despite the continued increase in CO2. Of course, the reality for the United Nations is that, in all probability, the extent of their error is about to soon get much worse. Since they are looking at the wrong catalyst of global climate change, they really have no idea what is about to happen next. To more adequately predict global temperature in the next few decades, the IPCC should be looking at the activity of the sun.
Indeed, studying the sun is exactly what astrophysicist Dr. Willie Soon, a researcher at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has been doing for years. Dr. Soon has identified a clear link between the sun’s activity as indicated by it's magnetic activity and temperature variations in the Arctic and Greenland over a period of time of about 130 years.
Dr. Soon chose this area for study since it has good temperature records and is an area sensitive to climate change, so that the signal from any one climatic influence should be easier to spot. He also says he can point to a physical mechanism in the circulation of the ocean linking the sun’s influence on temperature in the region.
Dr. Soon discussed the conclusions of his research work recently as follows: "Global temperature change can be attributed to slight variations in the sun's energy output, not man-made carbon dioxide emissions."
He continues, "When the sun is slightly brighter, meaning giving more light to Earth's system, the temperature warms in the Arctic. With the cooling that we observed in the Arctic from the 1940s to the 1970s, guess what the sun is doing? It's actually dimming slightly, ever so slightly. And then, guess what happened after the late 1970s? The sun brightens again."
Meanwhile, a new research paper from the Astronomical Society of Australia also identifies the sun as the catalyst for global climate change. The paper contends that the level of activity on the Sun will significantly diminish sometime in the next decade and remain low for about 20 to 30 years. On each occasion that the Sun has done this in the past the World’s mean temperature has dropped by 1 - 2 degrees C.
Of course, all this recent research just confirms earlier findings about the sun's role in global climate change. Consider that the sun's influence in the long term cooling and warming of the planet was discovered by the Danish Meteorological Institute in 1991. The Institute released a study using data that went back centuries which showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles.
Then, several years later, a Hoover Institution Study examined the same historical data and came to a similar conclusion. "The effects of solar activity and volcanoes are impossible to miss. Temperatures fluctuated exactly as expected, and the pattern was so clear that, statistically, the odds of the correlation existing by chance were one in 100," according to Hoover fellow Bruce Berkowitz.
As world politicians and the United Nations continue a misguided global warming focus on man-made CO2 emissions, evidence of the sun 's role in global climate change continues to grow.
So, it should not be surprising that to predict global climate change in the decades ahead we should look to the sun, just like we do in preparation for each calendar day.

About the AuthorJames William Smith has worked in Senior management positions for some of the largest Financial Services firms in the United States for the last twenty five years. Only days before we humbly look back on remembrance day we have disgraced the memory of all those that sacrificed so much in countless wars to keep Britain independent and free from tyranny. We condemn the action of one drunken youth who urinates on wreaths of poppy’s on a memorial, yet we sit idly by while our entire political system urinates on the sacrifice and memory of countless men and woman whom laid down their lives for our independence.

The New World order is finally here, if there was ever any doubt. We are now governed by the boys club out of Brussels. To this, our possible future prime minister says he can do nothing about it because with the ratification it has now become law, our rights of Independence and self governance are on the pyre reduced to embers with the thousands of shoddily made Guys that will burn over the coming days, the irony.

What kind of sorry state is our nation in when the so called power castrated possible future leader of our once great nation says he can not give his own people the right to decide their own fate by means of a referendum.

We now see what our Democracy is, for many this will be the first time, maybe the first realisation. We have been living in a house of smoke and mirrors believing that we are free and have the power to vote in leaders that will follow our will. Well the Truth Outs! Our democracy is nothing but a hoax of gigantic proportion.
Let’s face it for nearly a century now the only choice of governance has been one of two major parties and we have all been duped thinking that this system gives us freedom. But the truth is, that’s only one more choice that you get in a dictatorship and no choice at all when both parties sing from the same hymn sheet.

It wont be long before we see Europe wide taxes on energy consumption that will destroy jobs and hit the poorest in order to stop the fabrication that is man-made global warming, justified by their politically corrupt Useless Nation's IPCC call to arms that the world will end if we don’t stop pumping C02 into the atmosphere. Y2K all over again but with extra bull. Coincidentally among the hours upon hours of global warming terror we see on the news has anyone seen a piece stating that 32,000 scientist including over 9,000 PhD’s have signed a petition stating that man made influence on global warming is negligible? I thought not.

We have but two choices we can live with this affront to our will as a people and see our freedoms and liberty be endlessly restricted until George Orwell’s 1984 becomes a reality or we can make our voices heard. There was a million people marched through the streets of London in protest against the war in Iraq. How many will it take to reverse the rot in our nation to put the Great back into Britain to make our voices heard? No amount is too many because if we don’t do it now we will lose our freedom for ever. Now is the time to say no more! Enough is enough we are an Island nation with a proud a rich history and that is the way we wish to stay, working together with our European neighbours but not ruled by them. We tried that before in the 1940’s and guess what we didn’t like it. “Keep Britain Great not a European State!”

By Wade Harlaine(c)2009,

Republication allowed with accreditation to the Author and a working link to the following source http://101realglobalwarmingfacts.blogspot.com/Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-61978911184016881272009-11-04T07:12:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.708-08:00The Secret Scientific Debate On Global WarmingThe U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) gave a grim assessment of the impact of global climate change in a new report dated November 17, 2007. According to the Panel's latest report, the build-up of carbon dioxide on Earth already imperils islands, coastlines, and a fifth to two-thirds of the world's species.

The IPCC panel report says that global warming is "unequivocal". It estimates that as early as the year 2020 between 75 and 250 million people in Africa will suffer water shortages. It goes on to state that residents of Asia's largest cities will be at great risk of river and coastal flooding. Europeans can expect extensive species loss. North Americans will experience longer and hotter heat waves and greater competition for water.

In the best case scenario, temperatures will keep rising from carbon already in the atmosphere, the report said. Climate change is here as witnessed by melting snow and glaciers, higher average temperatures, and rising sea levels. If unchecked, global warming will spread hunger and disease, put further stress on water resources, cause fiercer storms and more frequent droughts, and could drive up to 70 percent of plant and animal species to extinction.

"We have already committed the world to sea level rise," the panel's chairman, Rajendra Pachauri, said. But if the Greenland ice sheet melts, the scientists said, they could not predict by how many feet the seas will rise, drowning coastal cities. Climate change imperils "the most precious treasures of our planet," he said, and the effects are "so severe and so sweeping that only urgent global action will do. We are all in this together. We must work together."

"The world's scientists have spoken clearly and with one voice," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said, "I expect the world's policy makers to do the same."

The world scientists that U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon refers to are apparently members of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. However, the Nobel prize winning IPCC is a political body appointed by the U.N. Many of the 3,000 members of this panel are not scientists, but are political appointees. The few real scientists on the panel have in the past disputed the panel's findings and had their comments deleted from the reports. Several of these scientists have even asked to have their names removed from the panel's report. Their requests have been denied. Some scientists have actually had to sue the panel to have their names removed.

So do the world's scientists all agree and speak with one voice on the issue of global warming? Is global warming "unequivocal"? It does not look like those statements can be attributed to scientists connected with the IPCC. The talking point that all scientists speak with "one voice" on global warming has been heard in Al Gore's global warming presentations and is now being used in comments by the United Nations Secretary General.

Certainly the comments from early last week from John Coleman (founder of the Weather Channel) don't indicate a consensus of opinion on global warming. His comments went generally unreported by the mainstream press. Coleman stated: "It (global warming) is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. ... Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus. I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change."

Also consider the comments of Colorado State University's Hurricane expert Dr. William Gray: "The only inconvenient truth about global warming is that a genuine debate has never actually taken place. Hundreds of scientists, many of them prominent in the field, agree. They've been brainwashing us for 20 years," Gray says. "This scare will also run its course. In 15-20 years, we'll look back and see what a hoax this was." Gray acknowledges that we've had some warming the past 30 years. "I don't question that," he explains. "And humans might have caused a very slight amount of this warming. Very slight. But this warming trend is not going to keep on going. My belief is that three, four years from now, the globe will start to cool again, as it did from the middle '40s to the middle '70s."

Then there are the opinions of highly respected climatologist, Roger Pielke Sr. at the University of Colorado: Pielke contends there isn't enough intellectual diversity in the debate. He claims a few vocal individuals are quoted "over and over" again, when in fact there are a variety of opinions. "I think the media is in the ideal position to do that. If the media honestly presented the views out there, which they rarely do, things would change."

The skeptical opinions of scientists Coleman, Grey and Pielke are not isolated. In fact, 19,000 scientists have signed a petition that states: "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Global warming may well turn out to be the serious problem identified in the United Nations report. However, there is a ongoing debate in the scientific community about global warming and its effects. World scientists do not speak with "one voice" and do not all agree that long term global warming is "unequivocal". The fact that there is a concerted effort to keep the scientific debate on global warming a public secret should make us feel as uncomfortable as the findings on global warming in the latest United Nations Report.

Author, James William Smith
website at http://www.eworldvu.comBaronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-1846119645436951842009-11-03T23:00:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.728-08:00Fearmongering And Facts-2012 ExaminedIt's always been my philosophy that the most rational approach to anything is to safety and emergency preparedness balance reason with readiness. So when the murmurs about 2012 began to grow into grumblings, and the grumblings grew into shouts, and the shouts grew into hysterical ranting, I figured it was about time to look into the matter and see if I couldn't find out what the facts on 2012 really were. Should we be worried? Should we stock up? And whose opinion should we trust? There are an awful lot of crisis-mongers out there, willing to pass along any terror-inducing hype as a means of parting you from your bucks. If there really IS anything we should know about December 21, 2012 that's significant to our safety or peace of mind, then it would be a shame to lose the message because we got too tired of listening to the tinfoil-hat-wearing New Age crap-peddlers. So, what are the facts? 2012 does, after all, seem to present a unique confluence of multiple prophecies, events, predictions, mythologies, and cosmologies. It's arguable that no prior period in history has seen such a merging of so wild a variety of belief systems and prophecies. There's the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar, and biblical prophecies of the End Times. The predictions of the I Ching, and Timewave Zero. The Sybil, Nostradamus, Isaac Newton, Edgar Cayce, and Mother Shipton all weigh in, among others. The Hopi have tossed a hat into the ring. Even science - or at least pseudoscience - gets a toe in the door, what with the statistics of the Bible code, the Web Bot Project, the Solar Maximum and threatening Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), predictions of a possible geomagnetic reversal (incorrectly referred to as a "polar shift"), the Precession of the Equinoxes, and the potentially deadly Planet X flyby. What isn't debated is that there will be a rare galactic alignment on that day, one that only appears every 26,000 years or so, which in itself is enough to make even the skeptics pause for thought. As we finally, truly enter the Age of Aquarius, 2012 has become the byword for futurist phobias. But is it just Y2K on steroids? There is simply too much out there on 2012 to get away with ignoring it completely. It's only a matter of time before the media latch onto it and hype the living hell out of the subject - the History Channel has certainly taken the lead there. But when you really dig in and read the literature and hit the blogs, trying to nail down the facts on 2012, you're pretty likely to end up both fascinated and befuddled, and even run the risk of joining the collective obsession and succumbing to the scare. Well, I've read a good deal of the latest thinking on this topic, so I'll share some of what I've discovered. Any research on 2012 has to start with the Mayan Long Count Calendar. The Mayans actually were (and are) brilliant mathematicians, astronomers, and time keepers. Their calendric system, which is based largely on astronomical observances, has a degree of accuracy and a depth of symbology that puts our Gregorian system to shame. Two thousand years ago, at a time when the majority of the world didn't question the idea that the world was flat and earth was the center of the universe, the Mayans came up with a cosmological view that could make astronomical predictions that were accurate to within mere seconds. No mean feat, to say the least. I certainly can't go into even a fraction of detail about this fascinating topic in this short article, but I encourage you to read more about it , as it's one of the most interesting angles to the whole 2012 topic. But possibly the most interesting thing is that the Mayan faith and mythology, their systems for keeping time, and even their design and hieroglyphs, are very like those of other traditional civilizations, such as the Egyptians, with whom they were unlikely to have had contact. This odd synchronicity becomes tough to explain, until you consider the one thing they did have in common - the sky. Is it really possible that multiple cultures and civilizations, divided by vast distances in time and geography, could divine similar meaning and draw the same conclusions from the same astronomical observances? And if so, does this lend greater credibility to their philosophy of time and how it is to unfold? Anthropologists attempt to answer this question, with varying degrees of success. This is where the confusion comes in. What were the Mayans trying to tell us? Are we facing imminent disaster, or merely a transition from one age to the next? Well, here's one of the elusive "facts" of 2012: the Mayan long count calendar does end on the winter solstice - December 21, 2012 - and that date does coincide with the Precessional transfer from the age of Pisces to the age of Aquarius, an event that only occurs about every 26,000 years. Here's what that means: In our solar system, the Sun and the planets share roughly the same plane of orbit, known as the plane of the ecliptic. From our perspective here on Earth, the Zodiacal constellations move along or near the ecliptic, and over a span of time, appear to recede counterclockwise by one degree every 72 years. This movement is attributed to a tiny wobble in the Earth's axis as it rotates. The result is that, approximately every 2,160 years, the constellation visible early on the morning of the spring equinox changes. In Western astrological traditions, this signals the end of one astrological age (currently the Age of Pisces) and the beginning of another (Age of Aquarius). Over the course of 26,000 years, the precession of the equinoxes makes one full circuit around the ecliptic. Just as the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere is currently in the constellation of Pisces, so the winter solstice is currently in the constellation of Sagittarius, which happens to be the constellation intersected by the galactic equator. Every year for the last 1000 years or so, on the winter solstice, the Earth, Sun and the galactic equator come into alignment, and every year, precession pushes the Sun's position a little way further through the Milky Way's band. New Age proponents of the galactic alignment hypothesis argue that, just as astrology uses the positions of stars and planets to make claims of future events, the Mayans plotted their calendars with the objective of preparing for significant world events. However, the alignment in question is not exclusive to 2012 but takes place over a 36-year period, corresponding to the diameter of the Sun, with the most precise convergence having already occurred in 1998. So what do we make of that? Does every claim for the significance of 2012 come as a kernel of truth, wrapped in a coating of hysterical hype? Let's explore a little further. Ah, Nostradamus. This much-quoted 16th century physician and prognosticator with his cryptic quatrains has been the most respected seer in history. A number of his quatrains are believed by scholars of prophecy to pertain to our time, and warn of dire events. It's estimated that about 50% of his prophecies have come true. While this passes in some circles as a staggeringly huge number of hits, it's worth keeping in mind that it's an equal number of misses, too...and even the hits are open to interpretation. Never, anywhere, does he specifically mention the year 2012. In fact, he goes on to claim that his visions extend as far as the 38th century, so apparently humanity doesn't meet its gory end any time soon after all. And with no concrete dates to point to, we are forced to wait and see - in retrospect - whether or not Nostradamus had any real insight into current events. Surely there must be some biblical passages that dovetail with the Mayan prediction of the end of days. Fundamentalist Christians are loud in their warnings that the rapture is imminent and those who miss it are in for a crapload of trouble. But wait - many doomsday dates predicted by theologians have come and gone, leaving their followers wondering what "didn't" hit them. And the bible itself assures us that nobody, not even Jesus or the angels, knows the exact date that anything is going to go down. That's a secret God is keeping to himself, we're told. Did He change His mind and decide to leak the info after all? Well then, isn't there a rogue star out there - Nibiru, or Planet X - that's due to make a pole-reversing, 1,000-foot wave-creating flyby of the earth? Both sides of THAT argument lay their case in front of the public, and we are free to take an open-minded look at it. As for Nibiru, latest thinking on that subject - at least by astronomers, who are in some position to know - is that it doesn't even exist, much less plan to drop by - or drop on us - in 2012. According to them, Nibiru=fake. End of story. As expected, detractors abound. What about the aliens, the ones that seeded humanity and keep coming back to steal cow parts and human fetuses? Those who claim to be in contact with these extraterrestrials are supposedly being assured that they will finally make their landing on the White House lawn on December 21, 2012. Unfortunately, we're forced to take the word of the contactees, with no way of verifying the information for ourselves. And why these contactees consider beings who behave the way these ETs apparently do as "space brothers" who should be welcomed with open arms is beyond me, but that's a discussion for another article! Finally, and most encouraging of all, is the idea that - far from disaster and ruin - the new age is going to bring enlightenment and a sorely-needed raising of the human consciousness to a higher and more spiritual level of existence. This will include everyone being able to engage in telepathy, levitation, and the ability to speak with the angels. Great as this sounds, again - best to examine whatever passes for evidence that this is what's going to happen. It seems to me that the information (or misinformation, as the case may be) that is making the rounds is being served up to the public as if it were a sort of stew...a particularly inedible one. You might love peanut butter, peach ice cream, asparagus, chocolate sauce, and liverwurst. But if you jam them all in a blender and try to swallow the result, how yummy would it be? Personally, I'd rather eat the contents of my cat's litter box. While it might seem logical to take a lot of really good-sounding ideas, each worthy of consideration on their own, and simmer them all together in a single pot for a tasty combo of intellectual flavors, the recipe really doesn't work. And that's what's happened with 2012. So many favorite non-secular ideologies, traditional (and poorly accepted) mythologies and mysteries, conspiracy theories, belief systems, fears, pseudo-scientific conclusions, and just plain wishful thinking, all being tossed into the 2012 crock-pot. The true importance of this date, assuming there is one, is in danger of being utterly lost in the stew. Every doomsday scenario ever concocted, brilliant or barmy, is being forcibly linked to this single date. It's weird, but it seems that every generation since the beginning of all those biblical begats has looked forward to the world ending during their own time. Apparently we all understand at a deep and depressing level just how far off course we've drifted, spiritually and emotionally. We are desperate for change, even if it means a gigantic dieback of humanity itself. And if there's any truth to the theory that, by our concentrated thoughts and intentions, we create our own reality, then we have some reason to be frightened for this particular generation. There's a traditional zen proverb that sums it up: That which you are looking for, is always looking for you. There's an emergent awareness of this possibility that events can be influenced by a collective will. It's a phenomenon known as "collective manifestation." In brief, it suggests that the more people believe a thing, the more influence they will have - consciously or unconsciously - in bringing it about. If this is true, then we are on track for SOMETHING significant to happen in 2012, simply because we decided amongst ourselves that we really, really wanted it to. So it behooves us to do two things: make very sure that the world we create is infinitely better than the one we're discarding, and safety and emergency preparedness prepare ourselves as much as possible for whatever might actually happen. Better to build the shelter before the storm hits.

Author: Susan LivingstoneBaronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-39487464548125004232009-11-03T22:44:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.750-08:00Calm Before The Sun StormWhat in the world, like from the sun, is going on? The year 2005, in the 23rd sun cycle, was supposed to be the minimum activity in the eleven year cycle; however, it turned out to be 40% higher. Thus Scientists were worried about what might happen in 2012 (yeah, that date). But as we've swung into the 24th cycle it appears that the sun has gone to sleep, or at least so far, has not awakened. The sunspot cycle is behaving a little like the stock market. Just when you think it has hit bottom, it goes even lower. There were no sunspots observed on 266 of the year's 366 days (73%). To find a year with more blank suns, you have to go all the way back to 1913, which had 311 spotless days. Prompted by these numbers, some observers suggested that the solar cycle had hit bottom in 2008. Is there change afoot in the suns cycle? Sunspot counts for 2009 have dropped even lower. As of March 31st, there were no sunspots on 78 of the year's 90 days (87%). It adds up to one inescapable conclusion: "We're experiencing a very deep solar minimum," says solar physicist Dean Pesnell of the Goddard Space Flight Center. "This is the quietest sun we've seen in almost a century," agrees sunspot expert David Hathaway of the Marshall Space Flight Center. I don't know about you; however, I don't like ANY abnormalities as w approach 2012. A very quiet sun can have as many adverse effects as an active one with CME's (coronal mass ejections) galore. But, as a betting man, I simply intuit this as the "calm before the storm". Whatcha think? Quiet suns come along every 11 years or so. It's a natural part of the sunspot cycle, discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Schwabe in the mid-1800s. Sunspots are planet-sized islands of magnetism on the surface of the sun; they are sources of solar flares, coronal mass ejections and intense UV radiation. Plotting sunspot counts, Schwabe saw that peaks of solar activity were always followed by valleys of relative calm—a clockwork pattern that has held true for more than 200 years. The good news is that we're finally taking some interest in the sun which is our planet's LIFE!.

Author: Ernie Fitzpatrick

About the Author:
As a spiritual-futurist, I have a BA degree majoring in history. And yet few people of Earth heed this warning. But there is science in these prophecies -- the science of light. The Planet Earth rotates around in a 25,800 year cycle. Between 1980 and 2016 that cycle and astrological progression brings us through a very thin area of space that intersects with the plane of our own galaxy our galactic equator. When our solar system intersects this thin plane of light energy from the center of the Milky Way it heats up slightly and changes energizes the Sun and all of the planets as well. This is the time of great changes and renewal and cleansing of the Earth -- a kind of fever to burn off the disease of a planet. Milky Way galaxy is like a giant pancake light bulb that sends out light energy in 360 degree like a regular light bulb. But our galaxy is a thin pancake flat bulb so every star in it is aligned in a flat plane or spiral as it spins around itself. This thin plane called the galactic equator of our Milky Way galaxy is now intersecting with the path of our solar system and the Earth. At this time the photons of the millions of stars of the Milky Way galaxy are aligned similar to a laser beam and focused on our solar system and the Sun. And tremendous light energy from the galactic center will re-energizes the sun and planets ever so slightly. The greatest threat to Earth comes when the planets also align in December 2012. Then the light energy and the shading effect of the planets and the Sun will cause the sun to send out great solar flares towards the Earth which can do great harm to the technology of mankind upon which we depend. Massive solar flares may knock out most all electrical and communications for many years to come and the Earth will be knocked back into a 1900 century existence. All of these advanced devices may take many years to duplicate and repair. The Earth will continue to heat up slightly over many years until 2018. There will be ever increasing droughts, crops will fail, and billions of people may die from starvation and civil strive if they are not prepared or do not receive help to survive. It takes many years to heat the Earth just like an oven with a large mass takes longer to heat. But the later years are the hottest before the heated of Earth will recede in temperature. How bad it will be no one can say. But there are always many things people can do to prepare and live more in harmony with nature right now. This may be a time of great wars as nations fight over water, food, shelter, and natural resources. But there is much we know about living in drought conditions and water conservation which can greatly help if this knowledge is shared widely now and applied to the times to come. The western nations will be hardest hit by the 19th century living standards of no electricity and modern communications. (Hopefully the fiber optic internet will eventually be restored and survive.) Many countries of the world currently have 1900 century living standards so they will be much less harmed by a sudden loss of modern electricity and communications for many years to come. But many of these same people will starve because they are dependent on American grains for food. Most of the pollution of the world will be gone almost overnight. But we must prepare vigorously to shut down nuclear reactors which require continuous electricity to prevent a meltdown of their nuclear cores. This will be our greatest challenge in 2012 -- to keep from doing greater environmental harm when these nuclear reactors can no longer function without electricity and keep their reactors cool. We must keep these nuclear reactors from exploding and contaminating the world for many generations to come. We may all become organic farmers at this time if we want to eat and survive. We will all vigorously conserve water for drinking and growing crops. We will have to severely limit travel and the use of gasoline, natural gas, and oil for fuel. And life will be much changed for the better from an environmental standpoint. Great change will be rapidly forced upon humanity to conserve, protect, and live in harmony with nature. And many animals and plants in nature will have to be saved from extinction by mankind if they are to survive. There is a Tibetan prophecy attributed to the King of Agartha the Inner Earth kingdom of about 800,000 million people. He states that world wars will begin again in 2011 and last for 18 years. At the end of this time of war the world will be much changed. And at that time the King of Agartha will come out of the Inner Earth to conquer and to help all those that remain. We all seem to be living in interesting times. But with so many bored and spiritually lost people in the world maybe that is a good thing.-- J.E. Martin

Should we use alternative energy sources because of concerns about global warming or perhaps because it is morally responsible, or from an economic stance.

Global warming has been one of the hot topics discussed in the last couple of years. There is great debate on this issue. Each side quotes statistics from differing sources to prove their point.

Hidden Agenda Theory

But what is the real issue? Is it to drive a push toward alternative energy sources or is the issue being used to enrich the pockets of a few positioned to profit from screaming global warming.

Greenhouse Gases

Let's look at greenhouse gases which is the leading argument of global warming proponents.

Greenhouse gases can be produced both by natural and industrial processes. The most abundant greenhouse gases on earth’s atmosphere are water vapors, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and CFCs.

The greatest producer is nature itself. Yes, humans produce greenhouse gases from converting fossil fuels into energy. But relative to the size of the earth and in proportion to greenhouse gases generated from the earth itself, how much does mankind really contribute to the problem.

The Real Culprit

Scientists dispute the greenhouse gas produced by man as a contributing factor that is significant enough to make a difference; relative to naturally occurring events.

Meteorologists agree with scientists that the second most influential factor in global warming (behind naturally occurring geological events) is the sun.

The number and intensity of sun flares is directly correlated to the cycles of earth's warming and cooling cycles.

A quick peak at history gives us a clearer picture of this belief. Centuries ago the arctic circle sea used to be navigated by ships. Very old ships found frozen in the area are proof. The number of humans then was minuscule compared to today and the factors of today that are attributed to global warming did not exist.

We had an ice age and glaciers covered most of the northern hemisphere then it warmed and humans thrived then the earth cooled again and the arctic sea froze over. Then the earth warmed again when solar flares increased.

In the mid and late 70's we again had record cold winters. Then it warmed up again. At the turn of the 22nd century the hype and campaign on global warming began. Now in 2009 we are having record cold summers because solar flare activity decreased.

Alternative Fuel Decision

Alternative fuels have been called "green energy".

Green energy is another term used to describe sources of energy that are considered to be environmentally friendly, which is also similar to the renewable sources of energy.

Whether you believe in global warming or not the use of alternative fuels will come down to only 2 reasons:

1. The governments force the use through taxes, laws and penalties.

2. The free market uses the #1 decision driver for 90% of the world's people; cost.

Everyone likes to think they are morally superior than being driven to making decisions based primarily on money. But, deny all you want; we are.

Once alternative fuels become affordable to be economically viable as a reasonable choice they will begin to be utilized. Unless, of course a government official thinks they know better than you or the nature of human behavior.Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-29593575779441813952009-11-03T07:57:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.847-08:00Hurricanes and Ice, Hurricanes and Ice
15th August 2008
Author: Mervyn Rees

More Hurricanes dur to Global Warming?

Because of the recent events and devastation caused Hurricane Katrina, many notable Scholars, Politicians and Scientists are blaming global warming for the increased activity and strength of hurricanes.

In fact, 2005 has set a record for number of developed hurricanes in the US and the season doesn't end for another 9 weeks. In fact, at this very moment, another extremely destructive hurricane, "Rita", is churning its way towards Texas and/or Louisiana.

If you do a little research, you will find that from 1961 through 1999 the USA was experiencing a "lull" in hurricane activity, averaging about 13 storms each decade. From 1871 through 1960, the average number of storms per decade was right at 20. So far, the current decade has yielded 9 hurricanes; at that rate we should end up with 22 or 23 hurricanes by the end of 2010. Seems high? Guess what, from 1941 - 1950, the USA recorded 24 hurricanes.

So does this historical data fall in line with the thinking of the "eager to jump on the global warming bandwagon"? No, because the US population has almost doubled since 1950 and therefore the level of "greenhouse gases" being emitted should have doubled as well. And yet the number of hurricanes has remained the same or lessened from 1961 - 2000.

So what does all this mean? Well, on the one hand you could say that the increase from 2001 - 2004 is significant and could be cause for alarm. And yet you could also make a case that the data does not support any conclusion at all.

The one thing you need to think about is that any data can be manipulated to show what the particular analyzer wants you to believe. You must be objective - gone are the days of being a "Straight Ticket Democrat or Republican" - and you have to seek out both sides of an issue in order to determine the real truth. And also remember that every story or report has some amount of truth in it as well as exaggeration - it is up to you to figure out how much of each.

When Ice Melts, Do The Oceans Rise?

Nearly every day the news has some report or blurb about how the Glaciers at the North Pole are melting. Huge floating Icebergs are being released into the ocean; often times the reports speculate on the causal effect of rising sea levels and changing ocean temperatures.

Of course this accompanied by a resounding chorus of "it's because of Greenhouse Gases from Global Warming" and we need to change our ways before we destroy the world. I may sound rude but it gets very tiring to hear that almost everything I do during my waking hours is probably destroying the Earth.

Now, on the surface these claims appear to be telling of a legitimate danger and a possible effect of our tendencies of non-restraint towards the Earth and its' environment. But let's take a moment to think about this and really understand these statements of doom and gloom.

First, let's consider the greenhouse gases causing Global Warming - sounds plausible, but take a step back and look at history just to make sure. Didn't the Earth suffer through an Ice Age several hundreds of thousands of years ago? What made that end? There were no factories, no automobiles and no humans - at least not like modern man. So what ended the Ice Age?

According to scholars, the Earth has been through many Ice Ages over the course of the last 4 million years, with the last one ending about 10,000 years ago. Although many scientists will dispute and say the Earth is still in an Ice Age due to accumulation of glacial ice in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

There are three main factors which cause the beginning or ending of each ice age - atmospheric content (especially CO2 and Methane), Milankovitch Cycles (changes in the Earth's orbit around the sun), and the arrangement of the continental shelves. To what extent or amount each of these three factors actually contributes is the great debate among scientists and scholars?

So it is apparent that prior to man existing, ice ages came and went. Since man wasn't around then, we certainly could not be blamed for the on-set or off-set of any particular ice age.

Now, on to the melting and oceans rising - The Arctic does not have a land mass under the glaciers. Arctic glaciers are actually an ice shelf extending from Canada, Alaska, and Russia. If the weight of the 'Ice' is borne by the oceans water and there is 'Displacement' i.e. the glacier is on top of the water, the melting of it will not raise the ocean level. Think of a glass of ice water - does the glass overflow when the ice melts? Then - No, the Ice is displacing the water volume.

However, the land masses in the Arctic region do have mountains of snow & ice that can be added to our oceans from surrounding lands. Check out the map at; http://maps.grida.no/go/graphic/arctic_conservation_area_caff_topographic_map

Moreover, the Antarctic does have its own land mass where the snow and ice is also over 2 miles thick; therefore using the same logic, the sea water would certainly rise if that should also melt.

Certainly, we need to do whatever we can to protect the Earth's environment because we will be protecting ourselves, our children and their children; however that doesn't mean we should throw out all sense of logic and reason too. You just have to look at everything, and remember that global temperatures are causing very unusual weather all around our planet Earth.

New Ideas

Many environmental problems are blamed on global warming, and with the devastating effects of recent hurricanes, which seem to be growing in number and intensity, environmentalists are hypothesizing there is a connection between global warming and hurricanes.

Win Wenger, director of a think tank called Project Renaissance, believes he has developed a method to reduce hurricanes.

His suggestion is to do exactly the opposite of what global warming is doing right now. He suggests that ocean-based storms, which turn into hurricanes, are fuelled by warm surface waters. If that is true, global warming would have a distinct impact on the increase in number and intensity of hurricanes!

His suggestion is to mix cold water into the warmer surface waters. He suggests this by doing a few of the things. First, one could pump air into the colder layers of ocean water and let it bubble up to the surface, carrying some of the cooler waters with it. Or, using tubes, one could pump cooler water through a tube into the warmer areas.

He goes on to suggest that any pumps necessary could be run by natural gas, which is already present in the hurricane-stricken areas. In fact, he says that oil rigs could take this on as a pilot project.

The benefits, if successful, would have dramatically positive impacts along any coastal region experiencing hurricane weather now. In fact, insurance claims would go down, insurance rates could diminish, the costs of damage and government subsidy would drop, as well as lost wages from missed work and evacuation, and tourist dollars would not be reduced either.

They say that the estimate cost of damages by Hurricane Katrina was over $200 billion. Do you think that it would cost that much to pump cold water into warm water in strategic areas in the ocean?

Well it makes you wonder!

Copyright (c) 2008 Mervyn Rees
------

Mervyn Rees-The author of, 'The Secrets of Biodiesel'. http://www.whybiodiesel.com An active young 72 year old with lifetime of experience to share, being a Fellow of the Institute Motoring Industry, built his own Dragonfly Roadsters before retiring as a Motor Vehicle Manufacturer. Read

The Europeans in their desire to be relevant on the world stage, have erected some immoral and vicious philosophies. Fascism, Communism, Socialism and post modern nonsense and dialecticism exemplified by the Useless Nations, as well as other cults of utopian fantasy are obvious examples. Like its cousin the current Eco-fascist Global Warming cult is premised on non-scientific data; a belief in an all knowing kind technocratic elite that will lead the group; a belief in a new world order; a hatred of modernity; a hatred of capitalism; a hatred of US inspired liberalism and a disdain for work, ethics, virtue and reality. The Eco-fascist cult is nothing more than a sick offering of left over philosophical food, cooked with rancid Marxism, coated with moral superiority complexes, sprinkled with non-scientific platitudes, and garnished by an self-adoring elite who just can’t get enough of their own importance. Eco-cultism and the Global Warming baloney is another sad example of the Euro-trash elite trying to make itself relevant. Global warming does not exist; has no relationship with human activity and is based on natural cycles and trends.

Yet the current media fascination with the eco-cult knows no limits. The current uproar over Global Warming is one of the greatest intellectual frauds in history and one that will be paid for by tax payers. The Europeans are hell bent to decrease the energy cost disadvantage they have with the far more dynamic and prosperous US economy. The Euro-eco fetish mandates the increase in socialist meddling; more unions; more bureaucrats and more dumb standards. Taxes will rise; industry will contract and jobs will be lost – but the Euro and buro-cats will tell you smugly that you sacrifice all for your children. Other cults including Hitlerism, Communism and Islam say the same.

If the Eco-fascists have their way not only will oil be off-limits in North America to new drilling but nuclear power, clean burning coal plants and other carbon based systems will be torn down. Added to this dislocation we have the eco-fascist cult lead by all-knowing seers such as the Useless Nations and Al Gore, screaming that we must do something now! to stop the earth from collapsing thanks to man-made global warming. The fact that not a shred of evidence supports the idea that humans cause global warming is hardly important to the Eco-fascist cult. It is the idea that counts! Not only that but the immoral, bloody, dirty, degenerate and rich West will have to transfer to the poorer nations enormous monies under Global Warming agreements to limit CO2 and other Greenhouse gas emissions. So shout the Eco-fascists. The costs to industry will escalate, economic growth will contract and our society will become a whole lot poorer to appease a small, government funded lobby group that is divorced from reality and a threat to our own existence.

The nonsense surrounding the global warming theory is thick and dense. But here is quick overview of why it is eco-cult garbage.

The Eco-fascist cult, lead by chief hypocrite Al Gore, believes that CO2, water vapor and Methane emissions will cause the earth to warm. This increased temperature will have catastrophic environmental impacts; such as melting ice caps, rising sea levels, ecological devastation and species reduction. Al Gore and his friends predict that without a massive reduction of about 30 % of CO2 and Methane from human induced non-renewal energy burning sources, the earth’s temperature will increase by 1-5 Degrees Celsius by 2100. Apparently this would cause a massive calamity. The culprits are rich countries who burn non-renewal fossil fuels. Developing countries including China and India are not to blame. In addition to policies and measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, nations should use other mechanisms to meet their commitments in a cost-effective way. Such mechanisms include international emissions trading, the clean development mechanism and joint implementation. In other words, don’t reduce your emissions, just pay someone else to buy their ‘credits’.

The philosophy is badly flawed and utopian – like any fascist cult. The science behind global warming is so bad that 18.000 Climatologists and Scientists have signed a petition stating that it is junk science. Politicians tell you that the scientific community is united on global warming. It isn’t. Only 800 environmental activists and government scientists support the idea. The idea that somehow the earth is not going through a natural climate cycle has never been seriously refuted. Data seems to indicate that there are regular occurrences like the little ice age and the medieval warm period in a rough 1500 year cycle. This cycle has repeated itself endlessly over the past 140.000 years. For example the earth was much warmer during the Medieval Warm Period 900-1400 AD. This warm spell ended around 1350-1400 and the temperature decreased precipitating the ‘Little Ice Age’ [1400-1900]. IPCC models can’t explain these temperature swings.

In the 20th century any temperature increase apparently occurred in two phases, during 1910-1945 and from 1975-2000. The first period is impossible to align with greenhouse emissions. The second phase can be aligned with emissions but 25 years does not constitute a meaningful long term trend, especially when between 1945-1975 there were rising emissions but no corresponding increase in temperature. Dr. Tim Patterson, professor of earth sciences at Ottawa’s Carleton University, Dr. Pat Michaels, professor of climatology at the University of Virginia, Dr. John Christy, Professor and Director, Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama, and many others explain that these far more accurate and comprehensive satellite temperature sensors reveal only a very small temperature rise since measurements began in 1979. Dr. Christy says the trend is about 0.07C per decade, right at the edge of statistical significance and certainly far too small to be noticeable. As well climatologists Marcel Fligge and Sami Solanki demonstrated in the respected journal, Geophysical Research Letters, that the warming or cooling of the Earth during the past four centuries closely matches variations in the Sun’s brightness.

Besides the above we have common sense. Most importantly — Ninety five percent of CO2 emissions come from natural sources and the earth releases 210,000 mega tonnes each year of CO2 gas. Only about 5 % of this comes from industrial and human activity. Even if you wiped out the human race the effect on CO2 emissions would be only 5 % of the total released yearly. Why then worry about it? Then there is the catch all nature of the Eco-fascist cult. Much like other cults – everything is attributed to the cult of global warming. Cold winter? Damn that global warming. Hurricanes? blame CO2. More ice in Antarctica’s eastern fringe? – well that is global warming at work too.

Al Gore and the Eco-fascist club is Marxist and anti-capitalist. The basic idea of their creed is that capitalism – represented by the immoral United States – is a danger to our mother earth. The earth goddess cult is a cheap way to gain votes. By installing the earth goddess cult into political debate politicians are able to do a number of things. First, they can buy off the green, left wing and eco-cult vote. Second, they can raise taxes and hire more union members in the name of love, the future, our children’s green space, saving the world, and other platitudes routinely employed to buy votes. Third, they can denigrate capitalism, growing economies and market dynamics by offering government as the only solution to solve an incurable ‘market failure’. Lastly they can resurrect the sorry paganism of the noble savage, the stone age nirvana of the earth goddess cult, as they transfer monies from the rich immoral northern part of the world, to the corrupt, polluted and failing areas of Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. Apparently destroying your economy and ecology through socialist mismanagement as witnessed in Africa and Eastern Europe, needs to be rewarded.

Message to Gore and company – get lost and if you are so enamored of pagan cults, go live in Arabia.Baronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15812186964734321858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902075871937878040.post-9271238302557203532009-11-02T23:17:00.001-08:002010-12-19T07:32:01.887-08:00Global Warming Myths And Lies - Fight Back With FactsAuthor: Carl Ringwall

Global warming alarmists want Americans to believe that humans are killing the planet. But 'Not Evil Just Wrong', a new documentary by Phelim McAleer and AnnMcElhinney, exposes the global warming myths and lies by proving that the only threats to America (and the rest of the world) are the flawed science and sky-is-falling rhetoric of Al Gore and his allies in environmental extremism. The film drives home the global warming myths and lies, as well as the realities of that extremism. "Turn off your lights. Turn off your heat when you get cold. Turn off your air when you get hot," one man on the street says. "And then think about that." Not Evil Just Wrong warns Americans that their jobs, modest lifestyles and dreams for their children are at stake. Industries that rely on fossil fuels will be crippled if the government imposes job-killing regulations on an economy already mired in recession. Small towns in the heartland, like Vevay, Ind., will become bastions of unemployment and poverty. Breadwinners like Tim McElhany in Vevay will lose their jobs -- and will have to start borrowing money again just to buy bread for their families. The damage that would be wrought is unjustified by the science. Not Evil Just Wrong exposes the deceptions that experts, politicians, educators and the media have been force-feeding the public for years. Man-made pollution is not melting the polar icecaps. The ocean will not rise 20 feet in a flash. And the only polar bears dying because of man are the ones who try to eat men. McAleer and McElhinney debunk what for a time was the environmental movement’s most powerful weapon of disinformation, the infamous "hockey stick" graph that attributed a supposedly unique burst of warming in the 20th century to humans. They also shatter the myth that the hottest years in the United States were 1998 and 2006. Global warming myths, global warming lies - all perpetrated by the left to destroy our way of life. It is time that responsible citizens stand up and debunk this bad science that will cripple our economy and threatens our American way of life.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/politics-articles/global-warming-myths-and-lies-fight-back-with-facts-1347998.html

About the Author:

Can one powerful movie change the course of history? Just as in the previous Nuclear Winter scare of the 80s, there is no basis for the fears that are being manipulated by those who are profiteering from this absurd science. Worse yet is that if one calls a Global Warming Alarmist (GWA) out on their claims then they will get the patented answer of, the debate is over.

I think not. One has to have a debate before the issues can be resolved. Yet the GWAs will not debate their evidence because they have none. If there is evidence anywhere to prove Man Made Global Warming as fact it has yet to be supported by reputable men of science. Therefore, the best recourse for these GWA profiteers is to claim that a debate which proved their claims has actually occurred. That brings to mind the following famous quote:

"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it." - Adolph Hitler

I will attempt to prove the absurdity of blaming man for the acceleration of Global Warming by first providing some basic botany facts and then a couple of visualizations which anyone can do at home. Bear in mind, these examples are for visualizing how small man actually is on this planet.

Through normal Photosynthesis, algae and cyanobacterium in marine environments provide about 70% of the free oxygen produced on earth. The remainder of Earth's overabundant oxygen is produced by plants like trees, shrubbery, grasses, flowers, et al. In fact just three average sized trees can provide one person with enough oxygen for their entire life. Now imagine how many trees there are on Earth.

For the first graphic experiment one needs to agree that there are 300 million people living in the United States. Now what we will do is to multiply that number by three feet in length per every man, woman and child. The three feet is what we will say is the average width of each of the 300 million people, from shoulder to shoulder. That leaves us with a line of 300 million people stretching shoulder to shoulder for 900 million feet in length.

The entire 50 United States has 12,383 miles of coastline and 7,458 miles of International Boundaries with Mexico and Canada. Which means the little thin outline on a map of the continental USA, complete with an insert of Hawaii and Alaska stretches 19,841 miles in length. Multiply these miles by 5,280 feet and the length of the USA outline stretches out to 104.8 million feet.

Now all we have to do is to figure out how many times we can run our line of 900 million "people feet" around the boundaries and coasts of the United States map. Through dividing the 900 million in people feet by the 104.8 million in USA outline we will get a total of 8.6 rows of people stretching around the entire USA map and inserts. Now if each person is averaged out at being two feet in depth then our rows would become 17.2 feet deep by 104.8 million feet long. At that thickness this line would not even be visible from low earth orbit!

Now look at the entire United States. One can see nothing but green and blue with a few sprinkles of beige for deserts. All of this green and blue and a small portion of beige produce oxygen. That is the entire oxygen producing ground cover of the United States. The CO2 emitting lines of people are not even visible at all. So how can one say that man is affecting the land?

For the second graphic experiment all we need to do is multiply 300 million people by six square feet (their footprint). That is an allocation of three feet by two feet for every single person in the USA. This results in approximately 1.8 billion square feet of people. Divide this by the total square feet of a square mile (27.9 million) and you will get an area of 64.6 square miles. That is actually a smaller area than Reno, Nevada! Which compared to a USA map would be like throwing a golf ball out onto a football field. The grass of the field would produce oxygen while the golf ball would represent the 300 million people producing CO2. Still think man can affect the earth?

To account for emissions from factories, transportation and animals, let us get crazy and just toss a volley ball out onto the football field instead of the golf ball. Even then, there is plenty of green on the field producing an overabundance of life sustaining oxygen.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/causes-and-organizations-articles/a-visualization-of-the-urban-legend-called-man-made-global-warming-294406.html

About the Author:
John DeJong is the lead creative designer for NotMeUSA.
